Tendai, born on November 13, 1973 in Mt Darwin, Zimbabwe, began sculpting in 1988 while still in school. His early artistic journey started after moving to Guruve where he learned from his brother, Edronce, Rukodi, one of Zimbabwe\u2019s renowned sculptors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing his schooling in 1992, Tendai pursued  sculpting full-time. In 1993 he briefly worked as a schoolteacher before joining the Tengenenge Art Community in 1994. That same year he moved to Harare where he collaborated with Raymond Chirambadare in Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza. During his time in Haare, Tendai connected with notable artists as Joe Mtasa which led to his introduction to Chapunga Gallery. From there, he worked with prominent galleries as Ramambo Galleries, `Stone Dynamics, Pierre Galary and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tendai\u2019s talent and dedication to his craft soon garnered international attention. His work has been exhibited and sold in galleries worldwide including Japan, South Korea, China, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and the UK. In the UK he was featured in a magazine and his figurative abstract work earned him high praise in Australia. His sculptures were also published in the media in San Diego in 1997 and Florida in 2003. Tendai was also selected as one of the 10 artists by the Shona Spirit Gallery in Germany to create monumental sculptures for the Buddha Gallery in Portugal where contributed with more than eight pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
